The History of Exhibitions at the Polish Pavilion in Venice (1993\u20132026)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Zach\u0119ta \u2013 National Gallery of Art announces a call for abstracts for a forthcoming publication on the history of exhibitions at the Polish Pavilion during the International Art Exhibition and International Architecture Exhibition \u2013 La Biennale di Venezia in 1993\u20132026.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">This will be an extensive publication to cover over three decades of Poland\u2019s contributions to the Biennale. Its aim is to document and to critically analyse the transformations that have taken place in modes of representing Polish art and architecture, in terms of shifting artistic, social, political, and institutional contexts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">We are planning to divide the book into two parts: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">&#8211; an extensive timeline, organising the history of the exhibitions at the Polish Pavilion in 1993\u20132026;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">&#8211; a selection of writings by the authors either invited or selected from the open call.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">We encourage submissions that address such topics as:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">&#8211; the history of exhibitions at the Polish Pavilion;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">&#8211; the social and political history of Poland\u2019s contributions to the Biennale in Venice;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">&#8211; the curatorial, institutional, and organisational aspects of Poland\u2019s participation in the Art Biennale and Architecture Biennale in Venice;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">&#8211; analyses of particular exhibitions, designs, the featured artists, architects, and curators;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">&#8211; issues of representation, cultural policy, cultural diplomacy and the international circuit of art and architecture;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">&#8211; the impact of the Biennale in Venice on the international art circuit; <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">&#8211; other research approaches concerning the history of the Polish Pavilion, or more broadly, the participation of Polish citizens (artists and curators) at the Biennale in Venice in 1993\u20132026.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Our invitation especially goes out to scholars in such fields as art history, architecture history, cultural studies, social studies, political studies, anthropology, exhibition studies, and related disciplines, as well as independent researchers into the history of Poland\u2019s presence at the Biennale.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Submissions<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Please send in:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">&#8211; an abstract for the planned article, up to 1,800 characters with spaces (one page),<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">&#8211; a brief academic or professional bio, including a list of publications from the past five years,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">&#8211; contact information \u2013 e-mail, telephone number.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Deadline for submissions: 30 September 2026 <\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><a href=\"mailto:polonia@labiennale.art.pl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cke-saved-href=\"mailto:polonia@labiennale.art.pl\">polonia@labiennale.art.pl<\/a> <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Title your e-mail: call for papers \u2013 biennale<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Selected authors will be invited to prepare full articles for the\u00a0publication (around 15<strong>\u2013<\/strong>20,000 characters with spaces, including bibliography).
